Program Description

What is It?

Decision Medicine (DM) is a free, two-week summer program that introduces high-school students to careers in medicine through hands-on experiences, behind-the-scenes hospital visits, and one-on-one mentoring with local physicians.

Created by the San Joaquin Medical Society, Decision Medicine encourages high-achieving, underrepresented students to explore medicine and envision returning to serve their own community.

Students experience a “day in the life” of a physician through activities such as hospital rounding, CPR certification, clinical site visits, community outreach experiences, and direct mentorship with practicing physicians.

Where is It Held?

Decision Medicine takes place in Stockton at local hospitals, clinics, and physician offices.

The primary drop-off and pick-up location is the San Joaquin Medical Society:
3031 W. March Lane, Suite 222W, Stockton, CA 95219

Specific daily locations are shared with students and parents at the mandatory orientation prior to the program.
